Abstract

This research paper explores the influence of Information Technology (IT) on student enrolments in professional courses such as BBA, BBA IB, BBA CA, and B.Sc. Computer Science in the Western Maharashtra region. Through a mixed-method approach that combines quantitative data analyzed using SPSS and qualitative insights from student perceptions, the study investigates various factors—such as institutional reputation, financial aid, location, faculty quality, program diversity, digital infrastructure, and online learning availability—that impact student decisions. The results highlight that IT-driven features like online learning, digital resources, and campus facilities significantly shape student preferences, alongside socio-economic and psychological influences. The findings provide actionable insights for academic institutions to adopt IT-enabled strategies to improve enrolment outcomes and student engagement.
