Abstract

Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and civil society entities play pivotal roles in shaping public health agendas, advocating for policy changes, and implementing community-driven interventions. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the multifaceted contributions of NGOs and civil society in promoting public health advocacy and action globally. Key areas of focus include advocacy and awareness campaigns, community engagement and empowerment, policy advocacy and lobbying, capacity building and training, monitoring and accountability mechanisms, partnerships and collaboration, emergency response and humanitarian aid, as well as research and innovation initiatives. Through a combination of grassroots mobilization, evidence-based advocacy, and strategic partnerships, NGOs and civil society organizations are instrumental in addressing health disparities, promoting health equity, and fostering sustainable health outcomes. This review underscores the critical importance of recognizing and supporting the invaluable contributions of NGOs and civil society in advancing public health goals and improving the well-being of communities worldwide.
