Abstract

The end of the 19^th century saw much change in many countries all around the world. The industrial revolution and advances in technology made communication and production more efficient.  As a result, countries began to compete with one another on many levels. Industrialization in the European countries was making great demands on the amounts of raw materials needed for this change, as the resources were no longer available in Europe. ⁽¹⁾
