Abstract
From the perspective of ancestral medicine, this article exposes healing practices and mechanisms of integral cleansing of the human being (mind, body and spirit), carried out by the healers at UNASAY-E in Ecuador. The study recovers cultural elements, loaded with cultural meanings, in which it is known from the voices of Mamas, Yachacs, Curanderos, Midwives and Cleaners, the procedures applied for the release of energies with which they live daily, so that they do not affect health of the healers. Qualitative research uses the ethnographic method, through interviews and focus groups. The results show us the importance of emptying the energy charge, the purification of the spirit and mind, and the care practices that ancestral doctors need to revitalize the process and attend to a population that demands other healing alternatives in the Austro Ecuadorian.
