Abstract

The study is to emphasize the importance of a code of ethics for architects to decrease the impacts of avalanche disasters. This study aims to research how much the life safety principle, which is stated as the most basic responsibility by the architectural profession's code of ethics, is applied by comparing the number of building-related deaths, development levels, and the content of avalanche-prone countries' ethical codes for architecture. The regulations and studies in the world were reviewed and the parts related to architectural design were organized to show the relationship between architecture and structures vulnerability to avalanche effect. These will provide a guide for architects who are aware of their responsibilities under professional ethical codes, and they will help lower avalanche-related fatalities. The implementation of architectural ethical codes has been suggested as a way to lessen the damage to countries that experience an excessive number of building-related fatalities as a result of avalanches. Further studies should evaluate the implementation of the responsibilities outlined by the architectural ethical codes for numerous different disasters and countries.
