Abstract

Lakshminath Bezbaroa was a versatile literary figure in Assamese literature. He was known as a story teller, novelist, playwright, biographer, essayist, satirist, critic and socio-philosophical writer and also a famous poet of Assamese literature. In Assamese Literature Bezbaroa was a hero of intellectual thought and national consciousness of the Assamese people. He was a prominent and well known first Assamese short story writer. In his short stories, Assamese, Bengali, Odisha societies were reflected in the tip of the fingernails. That is why his creations genre of realism in Assamese literature introduced through the short stories of love between men and women and humanism found an important place. Empathy for women (female) characters is also one of the important and notable aspects of his stories. Therefore, this paper is trying to enlighten the Bengal (Bangadesh) societal aspects in Bezbaroa's Story.
