Organizational Citizenship Behaviour: An Empirical Study Of College Teachers

Abstract
The current study examines the organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) of college teachers and identifies the key factors that influence their organizational citizenship behaviour. Organizational citizenship behaviour is voluntary behaviour that goes beyond the job contract, doesn't result in any formal rewards and contributes to the overall growth and development of the organization. OCB is defined as “individual behavior that is discretionary, not directly or explicitly recognized by the formal reward system, and that in the aggregate promotes the effective functioning of the organization” [37]. To measure teachers’ OCB, the scale developed by Podsakoff et al. [41] based on five variables (Altruism, Conscientiousness, Courtesy, Civic Virtue & Sportsmanship) is used in the study. Bibliometric analysis is used to synthesize and summarize the literature. Sample data is derived from a questionnaire survey of 332 college teachers and analyzed by using partial least squares structural equations modelling (PLS-SEM), descriptive statistics and t-test.
