“Scheißdreck ist Trumpf”. Gerhard von Brünneck’s diary entries and letters from South West Africa, Mai – August 1904
Abstract
A typescript of a diary and letters sent by Gerhardt von Brünneck from May until August 1904 to his family and friends while serving in the Kaiserliche Schutztruppe for German South West Africa. The diary and letters start with Brünneck’s arrival in Swakopmund on 24 Mai 1904 and end on 15 August 1904 with a description of the battle at Hamakari and the ensuing pursuit of the Herero people. The original typescript is held in the National Archives of Namibia, Private Accessions, A.583.
